MEMOIRS OF OUR MALARIA/HIV TEST EXERCISE
A cross section of widows and orphans waiting to participate in the exercise.
Her joy knew no bounds as she saw me. Our leader of Widows Without
Children Gwarra in Khana LGA Rivers State with some other members to
participate in the Malaria/HIV TESTING.
One of my girls in our orphans scholarship was there to interpret the Ogoni language for us as I interacted with a widow (without children) who was very sick.
One of our volunteers (a professional nurse) was there to dispense the malaria drugs and mosquito treated nets.
An interactive with some of my orphans in the community.
Our lab scientist doing her best in the testing of malaria/HIV
The formidable team that made the program a huge success.
The results got from this program where we tested widows and orphans (although more than thirty men turned out) on malaria/HIV is simply alarming. Its one thing to be a widow without children but to be HIV positive in an environment where poverty subjects people to all sorts of vices and the stigma of HIV is high can be devastating. Many who were found HIV positive were counselled and referred to the nearest govt general hospital. We call on all agencies, donors, government and developmental experts to partner with us and lets reachout to our rural communities.
The rural people were at Gwarra community with our team for the testing
of malaria/HIV and dispensing of malaria drugs with treated nets. More
than a hundred and twenty people were reached out to because we didn't
have enough to go round the people that turned
up. The results obtained only proved one thing: people are dying while alive. Urgent help is seriously needed.

ACHIEVING IN HUNGER
The hunger for a plate of food can make a virgin become a prostitute over-night, a principled person become a thief and even a man of ideas to become a fool. The need for food has driven most people at the rural areas to the point where they have lost faith in

BEYOND WIDOWHOOD
No one desires to be a widow, with the exception of those couple of insane individuals who are doing it for the cash or some other insane reason. A great many people would prefer not to be a widows. Yet, it is a sad reality. The terrible side of a relationship is

WOMEN'S INVOLVEMENT IN DEVELOPMENT ACTIVITIES
Comfort, when you have a girl as big as this and you don’t have money to send her to university get a suitor for her and after marriage let her continue the school in her husband's house. That was the opinion of my uncle to my mother when he was called to

TRAINING OUR TRADITIONAL BIRTH ATTENDANTS
'For children are His reward! They are His reward!!! Brethren prayers, prayers!!!'
That was the sound I heard when I visited the birth center of a Traditional Birth Attendant. Later, I heard the groaning of a woman in labour followed by a cry of a newborn baby as the shout of 'praise the Lord' filled the air.
